no sound when I connect speakers
Bought a used stereo receiver. It powered on at the store and looked in good shape but when I connect speakers to it, i get no sound.

What is the make and model number of the receiver?
What audio source have you tried to listen to using the receiver, e.g. internal radio (if it has one), external audio source connected to receiver e.g. TV audio output, turntable etc?

Some of these devices have channel outputs you can switch between. Usually where the speakers plug in you will find there is a letter or number denoting the channel, and you need to turn that channel on to get output on the connected speakers.
