Why is my monitor not turning on?

It seems as if it is not getting any power. I unplugged and plug the monitor back in. When connected to my MacBook Pro it doesn’t do anything and isn’t recognized my MacBook is updated. I also read that the thunderbolt cable could’ve went bad so what do you guys think? Don’t really wanna waste money trying a thousand different things.

If you have a MacBook Pro with a either the original MagSafe or MagSafe2 connector, what happens when you plug in the display cord to power your system does it work (Amber or green LED) using this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente.

Do you hear the fan? in a darkened room when you turn the display on do you see the faint light of the backlight?

No there is no backlight whatsoever. Also when MagSafe is plugged in it doesn’t light up.

@Matthew Burkholder - So either your power cord is bad, the socket in the display is, or the power supply has failed.

Try a different power cord, does the socket look burnt did you have a power outage or lighting storm?

@danj -I tried a different power cord on it and also tried the power cord that it came with to my windows pc and it powered it on so I know it’s not the power cable the socket didn’t look burnt. Also no I did not.
