iPhone 8 Plus newly replaced charging port working sporadically

I replaced my charging port with a new one. I tested it to make sure it worked before reassembling and now when I try to charge the phone it will not work or it only works intermittently. The charging cable and wall outlet are both brand new as well. I have noticed that it will vibrate when I connect it like it wants to charge but it's only connecting sometimes. I followed the instructions for the repair without issue. What could be causing this problem?
