Why am I get a single grey vertical stripe on my LCD panel?

I tried disconnecting the left and right ribbon bands from the tcon to panel( one at a time). If i disconnect the left side i get on the right side pink stripes the get bigger or smaller as i touch the connection band. If i disconnect the right side i get the same grey stripe as i would get with both sides connected. I checked the voltages and im getting different voltages for left and right output from tcon to panel also on the panel boards i get the same difference. Left side 10 mv , right side 5mV. this strikes me as odd. I also tested the capacitors on the tcon, found notjing wrong. Any idea what it might be?

Dércio Fernandes post some images of what your screen looks like with everything connected. Also, let us know what model your TV is. It is possible that this is a T-con board issue but it is also possible that this is a driver board issue. In your picture, you also want to show us where you checked the voltages. Oh and the tv is a phillips 49pus6581/12

Push gently on the ribbon cables that enter your LCD (The cable that comes from the LED controller board. That is the board where the ribbon cables from the T-Con board go to.) See if that changes the line on your screen. This does not look like a typical T-Con board error.

Yes i have done that but there are no changes

devices on the tcon board have a shorted failure mode. test them or replace the board.

So you would say its the tcon board?

- de

not enough info for a definite diagnosis. The picture actually looks like the horiz drive is dead. The T-CON board takes the video and creates the timing & control for the panel so it is a prime suspect for that. Do you have audio?

- de

Yes i have audio.

What is a horizontal drive?

- de

Having audio is good. The TCON (timing controller) board translates between a video signal and the specific row and column driver signaling needed by a specific LCD (or other) panel. Your picture showing a vertical line indicates the T-CON circuit is either receiving a video signal without horiz sync information or not able to process that information, the latter being most likely. The board is driving it vertically, but not necessarily in sync as you cannot see the video. If there was a black screen, no video, then it might be the LVDS circuit. But it is showing lighted pixels, video, but not placing the pixels across the screen (horizontal drive). A service manual might be helpful. You can get it here at a cost

but I couldn't find a free one. Some panels have chips on them that do some functions of t-con boards so it could be something other than the t-con.
