How can I enter safe mode on my PS3 slim with a 3rd party controller?

I need to enter safe mode on my PS3 slim in order to restore the database. But the only problem I have come across is that I am unable to press the PS button on my controller because I don’t have one. I use an @Play PS3 controller. Any way I can get it to work? Please help. Thanks!
