Hello Betsy…Most likely the flatwire cable that connects to motherboard from screen has a break or breaks in it . Screen replace is done if so . there is a SMALL chance that connector has worked a little loose on motherboard . If you were to follow a teardown/disassemble video you can try re-seating connector . Don’t use extreme force , there is usually a gentle click if was loose .

Hi Hugh, thanks for helping. I've had a look at the video (..panic). I had thought (hoped) that maybe cable was getting pinched. A whole screen replace sounds huge. Do you know what the right part number would be for a ASUS VivoBook S200E-CT216H model please?

Hiya Betsy...Pardon delay , slammed with chores . I looked up that screen on 'Laptopscreen.com' and I see that the flex cable is not included . They have no stock on matte screen but have glossy at $cdn 76.79 . NOT likely to solve problem with out that cable unless cable slightly dislodged . You have a touch screen . The digitizer is a separate item that can be ordered if it is bad (NOT likely) .
Unless it was dropped to your knowledge the screen may be a waste of money . It would be nice to have it on the bench to confirm . I would search for a disassembly video and check it out yourself , cant hurt much since it is not working .
Ebay may have flex cable . I have contacted Asus Canada before , they may have a part for you .

PS...ASUS VIVOBOOK S200E-CT SERIES is the only part number I can see on their site ...cheers
