Alternative SSD for MBP Retina Early2013

Hello,

I found “MacBook Pro Retina 15’’ Early 2013 core i7-2,40GHz model (A1398)“ on Auction site without a SSD. (Serial No C02KX61ZFFT0)

By the way I have a Macbook air 13’’ Mid2011, which display is broken but can used with external Display.

The SSD of MBA13’’ Model, SAMSUNG MZ-CPA2560/0A2.

Can I use this SSD for MBP Pro 2013?

Here’s a great reference on the different custom Apple SSD’s The Ultimate Guide to Apple’s Proprietary SSDs

While both systems use a mSATA SSD the physical sizes of the SSD’s are different.

Thanks, Dan.

Yeah, I searched the web and found out the physical sizes are different.

But do you think there could be a kind of socket or something which helps to them to plugged in? (If MBA's SSD was shorter than MBP's, it could work)

@shishisan - Its a dimensional issue, nothing magical here.

Think of it this way I have a hatch in my boat which I need to fit a very large bed though. The hatch is 4x3 the bed is 8x6 clearly it just won't pass through.

Now look at the SSD's in the guide note the sizes between them same deal! They just won't fit between.

@danj

Sure, I know what you mean. Sometimes there are kinda sockets which can convert SSD connector, I just thought about it, I mean MBA's were smaller like 4x3 and with the socket 5x3, would fit in 6x3(longer MBP room)

Sorry that English is my second language but hope make sense. I understand what you told me.

I say there could be possiblity that if MBP's SSD removal room was larger than MBA's. If opposite, as you say, can't fit in.

Sorry no such adapter to fit the SSD internally, This issue is strictly size the SSD won't fit either way, the limits are physical as I tried to explain.

The only thing you could get an external case which will allow you to use it as a spare drive OWC Envoy Pro

But maybe you're better than me! Look online for an adapter, take the systems apart so you can see for your self.

@danj , I understood what you meant, and decided not to search for any adaptor.

Thank you very much, anyway :-)
