bottom RAM slot MBP 2012 13" gets very hot; shuts down at 95 degrees

I upgraded memory to 16 Gb and 512Gb SSD. I have cleaned laptop thoroughly, so no residual dust. Laptop sensor shows temperature rapidly rising when using any browser or video, shuts down at 95 deg. C. If only 8Gb in Slot 0, the temp gets to about 82 deg. C. medium usage; if in Slot 1 only, temp climbs to about 90-92 deg. C. I would really like to use 16 Gb since I run W10 in a virtual machine also. When both slots filled, temp hits 93 deg. rapidly. Is there anything I can do?

I wasn’t expecting such a quick response. Thank you all.

@lemerise. I thank you for pointing out the pad over the ram slot. it isn’t there on this laptop. But your advice is well taken. I will simply use 8Gb. I had thought of putting thermal paste just below Slot 1 (where I think the pad was), but on second thoughts, I will make do with 8Gb RAM. Thank you for your assistance.

@Dan. TG Pro is paid software, I found. In any case, I have decided to settle for 8Gb RAM. Thank you.

Install this great app TG Pro please post a screenshot so we can see all of the sensors (you'll likely need to resize the window to get them all in one snap Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente

@oladim - The tryout/test version is all you need! To post us a view on what's happening.

There's a documented ram slot issue on the MBP 13" 2012. The lower slot often fails. If you check inside your back panel you'll see that Apple installed a pad over the ram slot to compress it. If your MBP works normally only using the upper slot then install a 8gb ram stick in it and use it as is. Other option is to replace the logic board.

This looks like a bad SO-DIMM not a slot issue. Are you using a matched set of modules? Also who’s did you use, do you have the specs for them?

Yes, they are a matched pair. It doesn’t matter which one is in the slot; the behaviour is the same. On another MBP, they work without any issues. When I use either of them alone (i.e. 8 Gb) in slot 0, the laptop works well, and doesn’t shut down (the temp is still high - 78 deg. C). I should mention that I live in the tropics where the ambient temp now varies between 28-34 deg. C. I think I will go with @lemerise’s suggestion just to use slot 0 only. Thanks all the same. Regards
