A few crumbs dropped into my keyboard and i've been trying to get it out. Does anyone know how to remove keys without breaking them (I have an ifixit kit with opening picks if that helps)? I don’t want the crumbs to cause future problems so I wanted to try to remove them. Also my MBP has the new scissor keys (magic keyboard).

I would hold the system upside down and using a can of can’ed air with short soft blasts spray the keys starting on one side and work across. See if that helps.
You may need to try each direction: left to right, then right to left, top to bottom and lastly, bottom to top.
Popping off the keycap is a delicate operation! If it gets to that point I would first try bring it into an Apple authorized shop or Apple Store, letting them give it a go. This way if they mess up, they owe you a repair Vs you having to pay for a new uppercase $$$

Not terribly useful advice for my use-case. Tried #1, no improvement. #2 isn't helping either. #3 isn't an immediate option— AppleCare+ has expired. However for me, it's a work laptop covered under the work insurance policy. So it's either 1. try to fix it myself and if I fail then I have to deal with the delays and timelines of insurance replacement, or 2. get the whole laptop replaced by work instance replacement (so 100% possibility of delays) and seems like a bit of a waste.
There's literally no logical reason not to try to fix it myself with my own iFixit kit. Your solution has only downsides and no upsides (after 90 days without extended AppleCare+).
So TL;DR: This is a website that advocates right-to-repair, and that is actually the simplest, quickest, least costly (in terms of time) solution for me. So I'd like to know how I can Fix It.
@capnslipp - First of I’m very much into self repair! But even still the repairability has its limits because the hardware maker designed it in such away as to make it just too difficult!
Think of it this way… A simple cut that you can deal with is a lot different than a broken arm! Even some health needs are beyond what your doctor or local hospital can deal with.
Sadly, Apples keyboard designs from 2016 is more delicate than the older. Then to compound it even replacing the full keyboard is a major undertaking!
Frankly, I truly believe Apple now designs their systems not to be repairable! Forcing people to buy anew once they have become locked into their ecosystem.
I’ll warn you popping of the key cap is the easy part it’s getting it back on that’s tricky! The tiny clips are very easy to damage even I have a hard time often needing to replace it.
