After I replaced my battery it won't stay on.

FYI I do have a newer iPhone so this issue isn’t the end of the world for me. But I wanted to use my old 6S basically like an iPod.

It’s pretty old and even though the battery was replaced by Apple before it was back to not holding a charge just listening to audio on it it would go from 100% to 50% in about an hour. That was the only issue it had at the time.

So I went ahead and tried to replace the battery. I tried to do the calibration steps. but no it was constantly registering a below 10% battery. and it’s fine if it’s just on but when ever I try doing anything on it. it dies after a few min. regardless if it’s plugged in or not.

I tried wiping it but I couldn’t do it from the phone or itunes because it would shut off when ever i put in my PW for the reset or to turn off find my phone to do it from itunes so I needed up whipping it like it was lost from iCloud to see if that would help. it didn’t.

I thought I did everything right since it will turn on. but could I have not plugged something back in properly since I keep having this issue?

I just want to make sure I'm understanding this properly. You said you had apple replace the battery at some point correct? And that's the only replacement you've had?

@hootonberg Apple replaced it once a few years ago when it was still under warmedy. I replaced it now that it's out of warmedy.

This could be damage to the battery connector or the battery flex—-if the battery can’t communicate it’s data to the logic board (the tiny center pins of the battery) then the phone will reboot every three minutes and report incorrect battery percentage.

The other likely case is that this isn’t bad battery at all, but instead “charger damage” You can get damage to the charger facing chips, tristar and tigris, by using non-certified charging cables. To check if this is the problem you need a usb ammeter—this device will tell you if it is consuming normal charging current or not.

I think you mean "warranty". If you go into battery health in settings it'll tell you the maximum capacity. If it’s at or below 85% or says service, it’s probably due for another replacement. You can order kits to do it yourself here on ifixit. Or if you would like you can take it to a local shop and they’ll be more than capable of getting it done faster and in some cases cheaper. Try to avoid the big chains, especially batteries plus if you have any of those around you. They use cheap Rayovac batteries that tend to fail.

I think the previous replacement is confusing the situation and I guess I shouldn't of said it....

I replaced the battery using an ifix it kit. earllier this week. after I replaced it is when my phone stopped charging correctly. and will shut off if I'm running anything after a few min. so I'm trying to figure out do I need to open it back up would something not be reconnected correctly or would it be a different issue?
