The Chevrolet Silverado, and its mechanically identical cousin, the GMC Sierra, is a series of full-size and heavy-duty pickup trucks manufactured by General Motors and introduced in 1999 as the successor to the long-running Chevrolet C/K line. The Silverado name was taken from a trim level previously used on the C/K pickup truck from 1975 through 1998.

Why my truck doesn't pickup speed as it should?

Hello i recently bought a 2016 Chevy Silverado ls 4.3 l and when i normally accelerate it barely passes 2000 rpm it always change gears around 2100 rpm when i press the pedal to the floor it doesn't pass 3000 rpm also i noticed when I'm driving on the hwy when i reduce speed and accelerate back it pickup speed very slowly i had the throttle body cleaned i cleaned the maf sensor i use fuel additive from time to time i have no engine light it does have a quick start i was suspecting the spark plugs i do have some minor ticking noise underneath the engine that is hard to notice i was told could be fuel pump that is failing or injectors or in limp mode i never had a Silverado before so not sure if that's how chevy trucks are please help thanks in advance.

when you say it doesn’t pick up speed like it should have you ever known it to go quicker than its going now or has it always been the same speed for you. With gentle driving it will be programmed to change gears at lower revs for comfort and emissions but does still seem a little low, the very slight ticking noise will probably just be the drivetrain or fuel injection.

Is it the LV3 6 cylinder engine? If it is its just under 300hp and roughly the same torque without forced induction so it isn’t going to be as quick as a V8 or a saloon car but should still have a fair bit of grunt to it.

Is there a manual mode to the shifter where you can override the gear changes, if there is try that and see if it feels any different, the restriction with auto transmissions is they are controlled by electrics, not sure about a lot of American motors but a lot of the European ones get sluggish sometimes and a garage can update the software on the car for better performance and shifting.

I wouldn’t worry about the ticking noise if it is very quiet and ask a garage if they are aware of any software for the transmission which may be able to be altered for a better drive. hope you get it sorted.

I had it hooked to obd scanner and tps in live data shows %16 on idle and in driving shows %16 to %38 when fully open so i checked it another way i took the intake manifold out and put key on and a friend of mine pressed gas and it only open little bit not full I'm assuming i might need to replace the TB

It won't be a cable throttle so its controlled electronically, the ICV and TPS (Idle Control Valve & Throttle Position Sensor) are prone to failing on these engines which will give you the problems you have with loss of power too. if you can give it a good clean first and hopefully remove any dirt or grime it may work again without having to replace it, if not then replace it with the sensor too. was there any stored codes, P0122 is the TPS I think, if there isn't any a clean may just do.
