FaceID Trouble after screen replacement

I recently replaced the screen on my iPhone 11. I’ve replaced iPhone screens from iPhone 4 through 11 so I’m not new to this. I knew that there were issues with parts being paired to boards so knew their may be some trouble ahead. I purchased the screen on eBay. The seller said that True Tone works but I would get the “not genuine” message in settings.

I replaced the screen and all went well. Everything worked EXCEPT True Tone. I didn’t even get the message of not having a genuine display. The seller offered to take the screen back but I also ordered a Xr screen for my niece and didn’t want to deal with the back and forth. I went ahead and ordered a JC-V1 for both screens to regain True Tone.

I got the JC in today and went ahead and performed on my phone. Got True Tone back however, now FaceID doesn’t work. It pops up in Settings and I can start the process but every time it eventually says it isn’t available and try again later. It tells me to move the phone higher and reposition my face and eventually gives the message of try again later.

I don’t think I damaged any cable. Any input would be great.

The dot projector has become faulty. There is not much you can do unless you have the right equipment and experience as you need to read the data from the original and write it to the new one along with soldering it to the flex.

Thank you for the reply. How does the dot projector become faulty.? I know anything can happen at anytime but let me make sure I was clear. FaceID was working for the 4 days I was waiting for the “True Tone Fix” device to come in. I just popped the screen back off, wrote the OG data from the OG screen to the new screen and popped it back on. Stopped working from there.
