When using the tool attachments air releases thru vent on top of the c

I have changed both filters, cleaned and checked the hose for obstructions and cleaned the cannister and innards. When using the tool attachments after a short while air releases and whines through the vent in the top of the cannister. It does not do this when using the floor vacuum. What to do.
