Hi

Have you got the latest BIOS firmware installed and possibly the latest chipset drivers etc?

Just a thought.

I’m not sure, how do I check? I’m not very techy I just wanted to make my son happy by building a pc with him

Hi @gias_girl

Presumably you are checking the CPU temps etc in BIOS when you say "all temps are normal"?

Start the PC and press Del key before the PC boots into Window, i.e. when the MSI logo is showing at startup to get into BIOS.

If it boots straight into Windows then you may have to go in through Windows to get to the BIOS menus Here is how to do this.

The BIOS version should be on the System Information page in BIOS. The user manual details how to update the BIOS if required

Maybe try a game to put the hardware under a bit of stress (lots of video action etc) and check what happens i.e. do the fans stay on and speed up if required, is the video still OK and not lagging, is the PC staying on and not shutting down etc

Thanks, I had no idea it might shut them down for that. Yes temps checked in bios, msi afterburner and hwinfo64 shutdowns have only happened while idle and idle temps inthe 30-40c range

No shutdowns during benchmarking with cinebench and 3dmark, not done stress testing yet

Hi @gias_girl

As I said, I didn't know but looking online Power Supply Idle Control has more to do with the PC freezing when low powered PSUs were connected to motherboards from a few years ago. The setting was introduced to overcome problems if required but nowadays BIOS revisions have overcome the problems and the setting shouldn't have to be altered.

Sorry to have misled you about this particular setting.

I've amended my answer above so as to not mislead anyone else

Still check the BIOS version though.

Cheers

Thanks, will have a look :)

Do you have all the fans connected to the same moles plug? Try spreading out the power connections over all of your available power molex. You could be overloading an individual plug and or the plug may not be making proper connection

The cpu fan is connected to the cpu fan header on the motherboard, the other fans are run off a controller on the case along with the case fan rgb (three rgb fans in total) this is connected to the psu directly. The cpu fan is connected to the cpu fan header at the top of the motherboard and the case fans are on a controller and connected to the bottom of the board
