Why is my iPhone screen showing colors inverted?

After opening my iPhone which had a loose screw I turned it back on and noticed that the black colors where white and white colors are black. The colors are inverted and my white black toggle is off.I tried restoring and that didn't help. Its for sure the screen and not any hardware because I took a screenshot and everything showed up just fine(no negative colors). Could this possibly be a loose ribbon cable? Or Electromagnetic build up?

Thank you for the help I really appreciate it

Thank you! It worked. I'm not the one who posted the question, but my screen was messed up this morning and I did a search and found the answer here.

Thanks again.

I had the same problem, the colors were inverted and my white black toggle was off. I saw tons of tutorials and comments but nothing worked. I went to General / Accessibility / Zoom / and turned it off, then double tap with three fingers on that screen and it worked! I know it's the weirdest thing, but it worked for me, hope it can help somebody else.

Yes, there is an inversion- filter that is activated only if the screen is zoomed. Sometimes the zoom act very descent, so you see only the inversion. You can deactivate the zoom-inversion at the very end of the zoom-screen.

This is the weirdest thing I have been so frustrated for about 24 hours. I have tried every logical fix and nothing. Finally I found this. It worked!!!!! I am doing a happy dance right now!!!! Thank you soooo much! I have an iPhone Xs Max.

Thank you! I am the smart dad (for the next hour or so anyhow - heehee) thanks to you. My daughter came to me with this issue all distraught. She "tried everything". I found your fix and all is well once again. This was a great help!!!

My iPhone 5s had this problem. I couldn't find a solution either. Triple tap home button, settings etc...nothing worked. If those solutions don't work for you, try a 3 finger double tap on your home screen (or any screen). Mine came up with a menu saying that I had a "filter" on. This menu only seems to come up if you actually do have a "screen filter" on.

Wow!... You're a genius! This worked for me on my iPhone 6 plus, same problem with white black and black white, it happened when I was putting in passcode one day, I hit something in error somehow. Anyway, Verizon tech support didn't have a clue on how to fix this, but I did just as instructed here and tapped home button a quick three times and saw that 'smart invert' was checked, I unchecked it and it worked! Thank you so much! Yeah baby!

YES! It is the zoom that's the problem, but look down that screen... Settings/accessibility/zoom, scroll down to zoom filter... mine was accidentally (somehow) set to grayscale inverted - change it to NONE and problem solved!!
