Proximity sensor working partly after screen replacement

Hello,

I replaced my iPhone XS Max screen few days ago and when I picked up the new screen before actually replacing it, immediately realized that the place for the proximity sensor is to open but I ignored it and replaced it regardless.

after replacing the proximity sensor do work when doing phone calls, hearing voice messages but… when for example when listening a voice message and taking out my phone of the ear, it still dark and the voice playing through earpiece rather than stop and turn on the display…

also when hitting play, the screen dims immediately even though I didn’t put anything in front of the proximity sensor.

I find myself always pressing the right lock/unlock button in order to cancel the screen dimming. Also when initiating phone calls, it immediately start to dim the screen and when clicking on the side button, it undims but immediately dims it again…

what do you think I can do?

Thanks

Do you still have the original screen? Some screens don't come with the plastic piece that centers the parts. I would see if that piece is missing. If that doesn't solve your problem you can change it to a higher quality screen.

Ohhh yeah forgot to mention that I took out the plastic that centers it but... he has no adhesive on it, maybe this is the problem? Even though there is a piece on it with screws that holds all the earpiece together

It needs that plastic piece and it's not glued in and you don't screw anything in.you have to put everything together and don't damage the cable, don't pinch anything and make sure it lays flat. Then screw in the 3 screws around the outside of the earpiece speaker.
