Motion Control Not Working on Wii Remote w/Wii Motion Plus

My Wii remote cannot detect shaking or when it has been tilted. For example, I cannot turn my kart in Mario Kart or dodge POW blocks. I took a look at the inside, and it appears to be clean. Any suggestions on a fix are appreciated, thanks!

Hi there! When you use the controller in the menu, do you see the cursor moving?? Did you test it with multiple controllers (just in case the sensor bar is getting bad).

Yeah, I can see the cursor from Wii remote and it works good, it just cannot sense any motion at all. Seems very strange, however my other Wii remote works well with the same Wii console and sensor bar.

Hmm. Bluetooth chip should be good to go, otherwise other controllers would fail too. Jep, it's something inside the controller. Not sure if it's fixable, if I'm beign honest... Perhaps someone else knows a trick, but not sure..

@dan0 I appreciate your attempt to help me :) But where is this chip that you speak of located? It's not impossible that it's faulty. I also have heard of an accelerometer next to the remote's A button pad, but I'm not so sure on how to remove it, as I can't seem to find any solder joints on the other side of the board. Mind you, I'm still not the best at fixing stuff, but I try my best to learn some more anytime.

@dan0 Also, if it helps, i noticed that the Wii remote does detect motion, but a very miniscule amount. Not enough for a shake, but juuust enough for a turn left and right when held vertically playing NFS Nitro.

If your Nintendo Wii Remote’s cursor is not appearing where it should or is not appearing at all, see the Nintendo Wii Remote Cursor Isn’t Where It’s Supposed to Be problem page for possible problems and solutions.
