Trackpad Works But Doesn't Click In

I went to use my Macbook Pro today and the trackpad doesn’t “push in” like it usually does. It feels like how the trackpad feels if the Mac is turned off or dead. I read this could be because of the battery being swollen, but would it still work fine, just not click in if it swollen? I hope the description makes sense, it just doesn’t physically move and I have to only tap to click things. It also can’t highlight things as if you were going to copy paste because it doesn’t move. Other than that everything is working fine, I can still click and use the Macbook. I know I can check and see if it is swollen but I don’t really have the tools to take off the back panel and would rather not do so unless I have to. I got this one in the summer of 2016. Thanks for any help!

if you usually use your mac book on your lap instead of on stand ups or on a stand you probably got the inside filled with dust if you can grab a can of compressed air. Then try and clean out the side of the computer as best as you can by shooting air through all the vent holes.

The haptic feedback for the trackpad is not working.

The most likely cause is either the trackpad cable going bad and needs to be replaced. Double check if it is seated in fully.

Worst case would be liquid damage on the trackpad connectors.
