Coffee spill MacBook Pro 13” 2017

My dad spilled coffee on his Mac. The data is worth more than the machine so I’m trying to get it off.

The screen is black but everything else appears to work fine. It is responding to button presses as expected.

It is not connecting to an external display using a usb c to hdmi connector.

The attached image shows the internal lcd connector. Would I damage it if I scrubbed it with alcohol and a toothbruh to get rid of the corrosion

DO NOT ATTEMPT A DIY REPAIR ON THIS. SEND IT TO ROSSMAN REPAIR GROUP.

That LCD connector has a major design flaw in that apple put a high voltage power line next to a low voltage data line which can kill the cpu and you can kiss your data goodbye. Power it off and send it to Rossman. He has a youtube channel you can check out. Here’s what I’m talking about with the data and voltage line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUUZUcu0...

If the data is that important I would definitely agree with @hootonberg and send it in to a specialist. Rossman Reapir Group does great work and I enjoy watching his youtube channel. Great resource.

I managed to get it working with the external display. It’s all getting backed up then my dad will probably get a new company machine. I might try fix it myself but there’s no point paying now
