Is is worth replacing the logic board?

MBP 2012 A1278 2.5Ghz Dual Core Intel Core i5-3210M

System works fine when connected to power and battery is disconnected. However, when battery is connected, the system displays lines and spots. Some times screens hang. I am told by Apple Service that the logic board needs replacement and cost is almost what i paid for the system when I bought it new. Is it worth replacing the board in 2020? Can this issue be resolved some other way?

I'm confused! If you disconnect the battery the system works with no issues, just using the MagSafe charger, Yet, With the battery installed the screen lines and spots!

I've never heard of such a problem! Thats like stubbing your toe gives you a black eye! These are un-related electrically. The battery may need replacing as its pressing on the uppercase but it in its self can't effect the display.

Install this app CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the main window so we can see both the batteries level and the charger.

Let's also get a few pics so we can see the issue on your display Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente Take some with the battery connected and some others with it disconnected.

@danj Thank you. I have already replaced the battery thinking that this could be a battery issue. But that did not fix the issue. Added the images with and without battery connected. You can see the spots, lines and how the icons have distorted. Will install the app, reconnect the battery and post images.

I think you have a more basic issue which can be easily fixed. Are you up to fixing your own system? If you are let's get to it!

Using this guide to help us walk through things Remplazo de la Placa Lógica del MacBook Pro Unibody Mediados de 2012 de 13" follow the first steps to disconnect the battery (stop as Step 4). Thank you. Will try this during weekend. Since I am not a regular, I may have to spend some time figuring out everything. Also, I am using the system during the weekdays for work.
