Preguntas 165 Ver todo

buttons are Non responsive. Joystick works fine.

Opened my joycon to swap shells (which I’ve done countless times) only this time, when I reconnected the battery the buttons do nothing. All of them are not responding, except the joystick.

I have almost the same problem. I replaced the shell and joystick of my left joycon. Before I close the shell, all buttons are working. But when I close the shell tightly (even without screwing it), only the joystick is working. Any ideas how to solve this?

It sounds like it could be that the motherboard is the issue

When I take apart the joycon the buttons start working again but the home button starts going haywire!

@Christian Estrella Honestly I'd just buy a new joy-con there's no other way to repair the mobo

This can happen if one of the buttons stays activated. I had this happen when replacing the R button, I had a short in the solder to ground and then again when closing the case, the plastic for R button was holding the button depressed which disables all the buttons except the joystick.

It is most likely the BCM20734 chip is to blame. All buttons are read through that chip instead of the traditional "one side up, one side ground” type thing. With the one exception being the thumbstick! It is all explained here: https://github.com/dekuNukem/Nintendo_Sw...

It is a really difficult fix and I’d say you’ll be better off getting a new motherboard or joy-con.

I'll share my experience here. I have this exact problem on my right joycon where none of the buttons except the pair button, the joystick button and the joystick itself works.

Basically one of the buttons got "stuck" in pressed state. (either electrically or mechanically, the latter is easier to notice.) and that causes the joycon to not respond to any other button presses. Mine started working again after I removed the right trigger button's ribbon cable. And became unresponsive again after I plug that back in.

What I recommend doing is following this guide to take the joycon apart, and start unplugging ribbon cables until the joycon start working again:

Reemplazo de Botones Joy-Con derecho de la Nintendo Switch

If the "stuck" button happened to be on a ribbon cable, then you can order the ribbon cable with the button and replace it. No soldering required

If it's a button on the board itself tho, then unfortunately it's gonna be more difficult. I recommend using multimeter to further troubleshoot it, and try to solder on a new button. Or just buy a replacement board.

i actually just had the same thing happened to me i tried opening it and notice the button for the R attaching at the board came loose. but before i did that all buttons suddenly became haywire. i dont why that happened maybe it might be because i sprayed wd-40 (for electronics and board) without detaching the battery first. ill be needing to check this more but i definitely have to do some soldering the button. im just not sure yet if the button connecting the the board is still be able to be used.
