Transmission overheating and goes into neutral
My 2002 front wheel drive Nissan Acura transmission jumps into neutral when it comes hot, what may cause that?

Hi,
Nissan Acura? I thought that the Acura was made by Honda as their premium car brand.
Assuming that is is an automatic transmission, check that the transmission fluid level is correct and that the fluid is clean, not dirty or smelling burnt or has iron filings in it, (use a magnet to check if it appears to have something in it).
When was the last time the ATF was changed, if ever? If never get it changed and the ATF filter as well.
Also get the OBDII port scanned for any codes which may give an indication of what is happening. If you get a P0720 check that the Vehicle Speed Sensor is OK as it can affect the transmission. In the USA, AutoZone is one of the places that will do this for free.
