Fuji Finepix AX245W The LCD screen does not work in normal modes

The LCD and connections to the LCD are working: if I put the camera into firmware upgrade mode, It lights up and displays the usual firmware upgrade dialogue. But in normal use, for viewfinding or reviewing pictures on the SD card, it shows nothing.

I’m running the latest 1.01 firmware. And I’ve tried reflashing it.

I can take pictures; removing the SD card and looking at its contents on a computer, I can see the images that were saved.

Any suggestions for fixing this?

Hi @wom_bat ,

Don't know the answer but try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen to check if there is an image at all when in view finding or reviewing mode.

If there is then it narrows it down to a backlight problem (I realize that you said that the screen works when updating).

Have you tried a power refresh at all?

Remove the battery and then press and hold the camera’s ON button for a while.

The length of time may be unable to be determined (2-5 minutes?) as the manual states that if the main battery has been in for 2 hours then when it is removed the date and time will hold for 24 hours so assume that it is a capacitor that provides the D&T backup and not a rechargeable battery as usually these hold the settings for a longer time.

The idea with this is to reset the camera’s settings back to their factory default settings in case any are corrupted and causing the problem, by removing all the power that is holding the settings.

Just trying to eliminate things
