I don’t think there is an actual damage to the lcd but the glass cover has scratches a dots that i can feel is it possible to just replace the glass cover and not the whole screen?

It is possible, but it is held down by adhesive, and its actually a plastic screen lens, so it scratches easily. I’ve seen people heat it up with a hairdryer, but I would use ifixit’s Iopener thing. It is used in the same way as you would for replacing the lcd for an ipad generation 5 lcd. (look at their guide for that, and maybe try the same tools and technique for this.) Just be incredibly careful.
