Hi @nujumabdu,

Did you buy it new or if used did it come with a warranty?

If new follow the directions in the manufacturer’s warranty statement that came with the laptop as to what to do to make a claim for a warranty repair, replacement or refund.

If used and it is covered by a warranty contact the seller about the problem

According to the warranty they will repair it no replacement or refund. But I am worried of opening and repairing a brand new 1.5 month old 65,000 cost laptop and there are many abuses of the service senters using low quality or refurbished components.

Service senter visited me an checked the laptop and said they want to open and repair it which I declined.

I want to know what will be the problem and what the components to be replaced or repaired.

Depending upon this I will go through the consumer rights society and claim for a replacement.

Hi @nujumabdu ,

Is this the manufacturer's "authorized" service centre?

If so and they damage the laptop, you should have recourse with the manufacturer.

Back up your data before you give it to them ;-)

If the backlight keeps coming on and off try pressing on the hinges (don't know whether it is left or right in your laptop) in case the cable is damaged where it passes through the hinges to get to the display to see if you can make it happen.

It can also be a faulty cable connection on the systemboard or on the display panel or even a problem in the display itself.

"It can also be a faulty cable connection on the systemboard or on the display panel or even a problem in the display itself." If so they have to replace the laptop as it is only 1.5 months.

Hi @nujumabdu ,

The possible faults that I outlined are only possibilities not definite. This won't be known until it is examined and diagnosed.

With regard to replacing the laptop, hopefully you are right.

I know that every legal jurisdiction is different but here purchasing from a retailer or manufacturer means that you have accepted the conditions of sale by the seller, usually as outlined in the warranty supplied by them.

It is not up to the seller to make sure that you know the conditions, that is the buyer's responsibility - "caveat emptor" or buyer beware. The seller must make the conditions of sale easily and freely available though.

If they do not stipulate that they will replace it then perhaps legally they don't have to.

They have offered to repair it, which legally that is maybe all that they have to do.

I am not talking about what is morally right but what is legally binding.

Just something that you may wish to verify in your location so that you are aware of your rights under the consumer legislation where you are, be they not what you think they are or what you think they should be.
