Which SSD blade is more compatible?

Hi,

I have iMac 27” Retina 5K model. The model number is A2115, SMC-3194.Can anyone suggest the compatible blade SSD? I need performance. I shall buy 1TB of blade SSD. Is it possible to install Windows, Linux and Mac on blade SSD? The fusion drive setup only give performance for Mac OS. If I replace Blade SSD, will it give the full performance of MVME SSD with Windows and linux?

Apple Samsung unit price is high.

Would you please recommend other models?

@inamahmed - As Apple uses their own custom design you are stuck here. I only install Apple SSD's in the iMac's as its located so deep within the system. There are two other makers OWC and Transcend check them out

Rule of thumb with PCIe drives is the number of lanes (x2 or x4) as well as the larger the SSD the better its performance is so a 256GB drive is slower than a 1TB.

As far as running multiple OS’s on your system while you can do it. It does backing up harder. You really want to use a Virtual Machine to make this easier, here’s a good writeup on the different programs Run a Windows Virtual Machine on your Mac

As far as what blade SSD to get I would recommend you stick with an Apple Samsung unit (1 or 2TB x4 SSPOLARIS) or going with either OWC or Transcend 3rd party drives (which are slower than the custom Samsung unit).
