Alienware laptop will not turn back on!

I couldn’t select my actual computer (Alienware 15 R4), so I selected the closest thing to it as this computer was released around the same time as the 17 R4. I got this Alienware 15 R4 a little over a year ago and had recently disconnected my laptop battery in August because it wasn’t working. I’m a college student so I needed a good laptop, I turned it off this morning after class because I had to urgently attend a college event, but I either straight up unplugged it while it was on, or I unplugged it while it was turning off because it seemed off (I was in a rush). When I turn it on now, it doesn’t properly turn on and starts sending out a beep code of 3 beeps, then a pause, then 2 beeps, a pause, then 1 beep. I have no idea what to do and I desperately need help quickly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have exactly the same problem, also with an Alienware 15 R4. Problems started when the battery started to expand. I removed it, as it was basically only used on a desk. All was more or less well for a couple of weeks until we started to encounter the same beeps you describe. Initially, that was fixed by an on and off, but now we can only get into BIOS and no further. Did you find any solution? I am going to tear down the machine to see if I can find a problem while waiting for a new battery.

Preliminary check:

as fixed by an on and off, but now we can only get into BIOS and no further. Did you find any solution?

Can you check if bios recognizes all hardware.?

unplug and remove battery

Carefully reset RAM modules

Reset BIOS

Check bios if all RAM is there?

1 Possible Motherboard (covers BIOS corruption or ROM error)

2 No RAM detected

3 Possible Motherboard Chipset

4 RAM failure (other)

5 CMOS Battery

6 Video card/chip

7 CPU

8 LCD

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have since fixed the problem.

In the event, I did not strip it down. I only took the back off for a visual inspection and to check the SSD was properly in place (as I had recently removed that when removing the swollen battery). It was properly in place so I put the back cover back on and tried to restart - but the same problems remained.

I had been puzzled by the blank screen so had attached an external monitor, and that’s how I could see that we could get into BIOS. Everything there seemed OK - hardware detected etc. So I tried to see if it would start up in to Windows 10 Safe Mode, and that worked. From there I just restored the machine to the original factory settings. That worked and after doing the necessary updates the machine is now working perfectly on mains power, without an installed battery.

I’ve no idea why the problem arose, but all now working OK. Thanks.
