iPhone SE display randomly unresponsive before AND after replacement

Hello!

I am working on an iPhone SE which has a randomly unresponsive screen. The display had a small crack from the upper edge to the earpiece, so I assumed the display unit would be damaged. However, after I replaced the display unit with digitizer (not the camera + sensor module and the metal shield), the display still behaves the same way. Any ideas what the issue is? It behaves almost like a loose contact.

It can be a issue with your Touch/Digitizer IC, a replacement will fix the issue.

That could very well be, but I don't have the equipment and skill to do that, so if this is the issue it would probably be the end of the phone. Are there any other things I can check/try to rule out possible other issues?

You can make a backup and Factory Reset it with iTunes, so you discard the Software Issue.

Also I saw similar problems with after market batteries or high voltage chargers.

You can find a good place that do microsoldering is not expensive.
