Silent button not working

Silent button is not working, but if i press and put pressure around the top speaker (probably where the silent connector is inside the phone) it works, if i let go it wont work.

is it a bad silent connector, could the battery be expanding inside (no real signs that the case is opening at this moment) .

Thank you for your replies.. assistive touch does work. restarting the phone does nothing.. I guess you didn’t read that by putting pressure on the phone activates the button..

I am surprised with the answers, I didn’t expect the suggestion to be to take it to a service center. This is supposed to be a DIY page where we can get parts and fix it your self. I was expecting an actual answer on how to fix it and not a band aid.

@Mario Ceres Sorry, but if you are having issue in muting your device even with Assistive Touch, the problem is most probably with the hardware, you can hardly fix it by yourself. Troubleshooting your iPhone firstly.

The first thing to try is a simple restart. In most cases, a restart will fix the problem and the iPhone silent button will start working again.

You can try putting your iPhone 8 plus in silent mode by just toggling the switch. If still you are not able to put your iPhone in silent mode, then check if the switch is damaged or broken. If so is the case, you must immediately visit the Apple Care Center to solve silent switch isn't working iPhone issue.

Just a quick reminder:

If the silent switch is not working on your iPhone, then you can silent or mute your iPhone from Assistive Touch button.

If the silent switch is not working on your iPhone, then you can silent or mute your iPhone from the Assistive Touch button. ... To use Assistive touch on your iPhone, first, you need to enable it from the settings. Step 1Go to the “Settings” app and then, open the “General” settings. After that, tap on “Accessibility”. Then click Assistive touch on.

This can help you for some time as your issue is a hardware issue it can be fixed by the service center only.

Lewis
