Shutter on Minolta Maxxum 7000 35mm SLR Film Camera doesn't work

Can the shutter on the Minolta Maxxum 7000 35mm SLR Film Camera be repaired by myself, or do I need to take it to a camera shop and where would I take it?

Carol -- did you find out how to fix this problem??? Also, on our old Minolta 7000, the film will not advance. Any ideas???
