Display Screen needs to be replaced

My screen has been wrecked by a usb being closed on it. I am trying to find a screen that isn’t outrageously priced and was wondering if a 2012 early 2013 screen will work on it? I am going to assume a late 2009 screen which I have won’t work because it’s not a retina model. Is this the same reason an early 2013 won’t work on it? Thanks
