Laptop will not boot up. Either the gray Apple screen with spinning cursor freezes, or at the login window the screen begins to flash and the system locks up. The load time is significantly longer.
I have reset PRAM and SMC. Apple Hardware Test error is SNS/1/40000000: TGOD-128.000. The Mac isn’t getting hot because it isn’t even booting up. Fans and vents have been cleaned. Before this crash, the fans were not running high, but the Mac was HOT when operating. smcfancontol said 150 degrees. During the test the screen stays on with no flashing. But is extremely hot, even with fans full blast. My thermal gun says the case is 110 degrees. If it needs new fans or thermal paste, it is locking before it has the chance to get hot. But too hot is definitely involved.
So, I’m baffled and looking for advice on how to pinpoint the issue and if parts are available. I can’t get the Mac to boot long enough for any other tests.I’m hoping this Mac can be saved being this old. Many important files I could retrieve in target mode I guess. But new software and a new laptop are totally un-affordable for me now. If it is a heat sensor, what choices do I have to repair and are instructions on this site? Locking up while cold has me very concerned about what the actual problem is and if it can be fixed.
Es esta una buena pregunta?
