Lines and discolored tv

I have a 80 in Sharp smart tv model number LC-80UQ17U. There is horizontal lines that move in a upward direction on the tv and the color on the tv is distorted. Would a defective T-con be causing this? What other information could help diagnose the issue? When I mess around with the settings like the Hertz I'm able to make the lines less noticeable and the color is also slightly better.

I was able to get the screen to work but noticed there is a small thin black line that goes about half way across the screen. It's near the bottom left side in photo

@sheldonmanitoba,

If your television has image distortion issues, see the Insignia NS-24ER310NA17 Has Image Distortion problem page for possible causes and solutions.

Would a defective T-con be causing this? No. T-con board is not responsible for horizontal lines but a bad T-con board can be the issue for this ‘the color on the tv is distorted.’ Horizontal lines are usually caused by the driver board which is actually part of the panel. Check for loose wires etc. When you say the line moves up, is it like the old TV that had vertical hold error where the whole screen slowed moved horizontally, or is it just the line?

The image does not move but diagonal lines move in a upward motion kind of flashing. The screen is LCD, where are the connections to the screen?

@sheldonmanitoba try different video input sources on all input connections. I prefer a local source like DVD,BR or game console. Let us know if all input channels have that line. It is possible that this is a main board issue.

I tired all sources including Bluetooth and they are all doing the same thing. But when I did touch the HDMI cord while plugged in the video went off.

@sheldonmanitoba narrow this "the video went off." down. What did you need to do to get the picture back? Any change? Starting to sound like a main board issue

When I moved the HDMI cord slightly the feed to the tv cut off like it was unplugged. The tv still stayed on and once I let it go back to original position the feed to the tv came back.
