Would replacing LCD fix backlight issue?

My phone got moisture inside a dry bag that got a leak, it was not submerged but it started flashing on and off and shut off. I turned on again and I turned it off but then again. I was fiddling with it and the apple logo came back twice and then shut off.

I could get calls, I am able to power off the phone by sliding my finger over the screen and answer the call by sliding the slider just guessing where the slider is.

I have been reading here and it seems the backlight might be shorted? If I replace the whole LCD screen assembly with a new one, would this take care of the issue? I hear about people soldering something on the mother board or the screen, etc. Do I really need to do this or would replacing the LCD take care of the issue?

From my experience backlight problems are almost always logic board related, especially when liquid damaged.

Although there is a slim chance this could be LCD related, but no way of knowing without a known good display to test with.

@Birdie Yes could be for sure. Even if the backlight circuit is not functional the rest of the phone can still operate as usual. As i said only way to narrow down the fault would be to try another screen.

Good luck

The lcd could be the problem. You’d have to try another screen to see. If there’s water damage, there could be a short. If there’s a partial short to ground,it can cause issues with not enough power to the backlight. As for moisture or water damage, opening the phone is the first step to dry it out. Powering it on is a bad idea potentially, especially when it’s wet still, since this can damage it further. I’d backup any important data now in case. But you could have it sent out to be repaired.
