iPhone 6s: empty battery after ~8-9hours idle time

Hi,

I ordered a new Iphone 6s battery and installed it following the guide.

(I also followed the battery calibration guide)

However my battery drains really fast.

When going to sleep at 23.00 and getting up at 07.00 the battery went from 100% -> 10%

During the day (checking my mail from time to time; not doing anything stressing/gaming/gps …) it drops from 100% to 50% in about 3-4 hours.

Could it be that the replacement battery is faulty? Or could anything else cause this battery drain?

Regards

Ivo

This could be a replacement battery issue. If the old battery was still decent, I would install it to see if the pattern is the same. If it is, you may have damaged something during the repair. If they have different characteristics, then it’s probably a bad replacement battery.

If this is an iFixit battery, then you should contact iFixit Support and they will help you sort things out.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

My old battery was almost 2 years old and I think it’s performance was even a bit worse than this new battery.

I can not place the old battery back as It was bent in the process of removing it (the adhesive was quite strong).

I will contact ifixit support.

regards

Ivo

Be careful with bending the battery. Those things will literally catch fire if you short the positive and negative. When you bend it,inner layers can short together. It will smoke and burn. You should keep a fire extinguisher nearby Incase.

Like Minho said, the battery can be the problem. If it’s a component issue, the “gas gauge filter” sometimes gets knocked off when disconnecting the battery. It’s usually right next to the batter port. If you see crooked flat yucky solder pads,it’s an indication it lost a component.

Hopefully it’s simply a bad battery though.

@skyethespy just a quick note. On the iPhone 6S series, there is no gas gauge filter. There is a 100 Ohm resistor on that line but it is on the reverse side of the logic board and therefore isn't susceptible to being accidentally knocked off while disconnecting the battery.

Ok. Thanks for letting me know. I am still learning. Sorry about that.

@skyethespy no worries, learning is good.

The fast drain of the battery is the problem there is any shorting present on the phones. If the circuit have some partial short such problem shows. You can check this first.Check all the function like vibrator,Home button with working touch sensor. While playing games that i think that is normal like.Better replaced other one battery and check.
