Will my data still be stuck on the old motherboard after replacement?

Since the 32GB of flash memory appears to be mounted to the motherboard of the S6 Edge, will replacing the motherboard mean that I’ll bring my phone back to life with no original data intact? If so, do I have any hope of recovering the old data from a bad motherboard?

there are places that specialize in data recovery in these situations, though they typically start in the few hundred dollar range for data recovery prices. it’s possible to get the data off of a bad board, though not guaranteed, and it requires some really high end/expensive equipment to do so from what I know.

@howgozit that is correct. The data is stored on IC’s (chips) on the motherboard. It will not get transferred. You can only recover that data if you can get the board to power up and get recognized etc. Otherwise consider the data lost.
