New glass disables iPhone 6s plus.

I have a Iphone 6s Plus with a broken digitizer with no touch. After installing a new digitizer the phone disables the device for 1 hour. I have installed 3 new units ( all high quality or OEM units). Each time I install a new digitizer, it will disable the phone for 1 hour and there is no touch. Even after I wait the 1 hour and plug in a new digitizer….disabled for 1 hour. Phone is running newest firmware. I was able to force it into DFU mode and update. I’m at a loss on this one. My guess is touch IC but I’ve never seen this before.

Update (06/19/2019)

We would let the hour countdown and there was zero touch. When the countdown was done I was able to update the phone thru iTunes. There was no emergency access as well. Connecter on the board is clean.

All digitizers are tested & working fine in other phones.

Touch IC would not be the fault here because they have moved the touch IC controller chip from the logic board to the screen itself after the iPhone 6 / 6 plus. So the 6S series phones are immune to the touch IC defect that the previous model had.

Each screen has their own touch IC modules so that would rule out touch IC or screen being at fault.

Note about the 1 hour disabled timer:

  • If the screen that was on the phone initially had a touch screen that was faulty with dead spots / touching by itself it may have entered an incorrect passcode and temporarily disabled the iPhone for doing so it will sometimes make it stuck on a 1 hour timer if you do not let it finish the timer and enter the correct passcode before switching the phone off for a screen replacement.
  • Basically if it’s currently disabled on a 1 hour timer, once the battery is disconnected or iPhone is restarted it’ll reset back to an hour until correct passcode is entered.

With a replacement screen are you able to tap on the emergency calls button which should be displayed under the disabled message?

If it just says iPhone is disabled connect to iTunes just restore the phone as there is no way to recover data from a disabled iPhone with no timer.

Check the screen connector on the board, if it looks visually physically fine I recommend soft bristle brushing the connectors with 99% isopropyl alcohol in case of debris / dust.
