iPhone 6 sometimes stuck on searching, sometimes fine.

I've repaired a dead phone 6. Tried everything out, but the carrier network was stuck on searching for ages. Tried later on and it worked. Stop working later on after re-inserting the SIM card. Reseated the antenna cable connector, and it worked again.

*#06# shows the IMEI. Modem version shows. Detects when sim card is entered/exits.

My main phone picks up my SIM instantly, so I'm not sure what is going on here. There is a VERY VERY minute bend in the shell, but you have to look very hard to see it. Not sure if this is causing the pins to not touch the SIM card correctly, but it always detects it being inserted.

As I sit here, I have the SIM working great, but I am concerned about selling it, only to have the buyer complain about not getting a signal.

The bend was most probably enough to cause a baseband fault which is a relatively common issue on the iPhone 6 and needs fixing faulty traces of solder pads and removal and reball of the baseband IC. After it starts showing up the issue gets worse with time until you get no signal anymore, searching/no service all the time and baseband stops showing up at all. It’s guaranteed you will get a return if you sell it unless it gets fixed properly beforehand.

Once I get it to find the signal by restarting and such, I have no problem with it finding signal no matter how many times I re-insert the SIM. Just after leaving the phone off for a while, it stays searching. Still sound like baseband? I think you are right.

When the baseband is working the fact that you insert or remove the Sim card doesn't change the picture. That's a simple mechanism like the switch you use to turn a light on and off.

This fault is common on iPhone 6 & 6 plus series,That is the fault of Baseband chip dry soldered,Sometime works sometime shows no service or searching. You have to re-ball the BB chip for permanent solution

For someone who has never micro-soldered before, would this be a while away from learning how to do?
