power button - problem with button after fixing

Hi,

I have 3GS, in order to use the power button, u need to press really hard, in some point, and then it works (With pinching as well).

Volume buttons, headset, silent switch are working.

I opened the device, cleaned the button and the flex, made sure the button is in 180 to the back panel - but it didn't work.

what could resolve this?

thanks

Simple fix. This issue is not the button itself, it will be the flex beneath it that is the issue.Try to find some rubber of some sort that wont degrade. When i have come across this issue i use the rubber from HTC home buttons. Cut a very small piece out (approximately the size of the home button flex (pictured below)

Use some fast drying glue/super glue and glue it inside the small circle. Make sure you are carful as you only have one shot at this as super glue dries very quickly. But don't worry too much if you break it as it is already possibly broken. Put the rubber in place and wait minimum 5 minutes for it to dry. Replace ribbon and home button and hope for the best! If it still does not work you can either buy a new Headphone jack assembly and install (make sure you know what you are doing before carrying out this type of part replacement as it is rather difficult) or you can buy a new back assembly and it will be pre-installed for you.

Hey martin,

Well.. The HTC tip is not possible cause I don't have it, plus I am not sure I understood.

But I would like to ask something else about the Headphone Jack Assembly:

Replacing this part to a new one, should I be carefull with something?

I understood that the Vibrate area has the mute button and some other parts that must be there and you must work very carefully there.

Thanks

Yes, below is a link to another post that has had a similar issue and i explain the issues with the ribbon in further detail. If i were you i'd just buy a new back assembly and be done with it. A lot easier and a lot less time consuming! Trick to getting the mute switch to stay in mute button?
