I have the problem with my new z550. It was working find and then it would not go forward or reverse. When you lift the seat you can see a spring about a foot long hanging down from a pulley but I cant tell where it goes

My friend has a craftsman Z550 23hp 50 inch cut the right transmission goes forwards but not backwards they think it was a factory mistake bc its been like that since he bought it
