HP Officejet Pro 8630 Printer Head error 0xc19a00 stuck on right side.

Folks,

Anyone ever get the feeling we’re being played by this company? I had a perfectly working HP printer until last night. I use bonafide HP ink and paper and this morning the printer showed that the print cartridge that holds the ink was not being recognized. I went through all the hoops with tech support and the eventual outcome was a tech trying to upsell me for a new printer at a “discounted price” (B&H had the same price). Truthfully the tech sounded more like a salesperson reading the pitch off a sheet of paper.

This smells of planned obsolescence to me.

The $120 part + shipping in question was back ordered for 7-8 weeks! But wait! We can upsell you a brand new printer along with our program called Instant Ink! Only $2.99 a month.

I went through this drill the last time I had an issue with my printer. Except they didn’t sell the part. I got suckered into buying an upgrade…shame on me.

I’m not sure what to do here. They say there’s no guarantee that the new print cartridge will fix the issue. As the tech was having me go through the step by step motions, the last sequence put the print cartridge all the way to the right of the inside of the printer. It’s locked there and will not move.

If I had a couple of days to tear it down, I might go after it but I’m heading out of town and my wife needs to print docs. for work.

Anyone with similar HP issues? Let’s crowdsource this thing!

Thanks

Hi, I have a very similar issue. My printer is an HP OfficeJet 6958. It is just over a year old and barely out of warranty. I had just bought new ink and I sprung extra money for the high capacity cartridges so they wouldn’t have to be replaced so quickly. A couple days ago I started getting an error message. I called HP support and they walked me through all the steps. I got to the part where I was suppose to move the ink cartridge left and right, and it was stuck in the right and would not move. The tech told me it can only be repaired by taking it to an authorized repair center and it will cost more that the printer is worth. He tried to sell me another printer.

I did finally figure out how to move the cartridge. There is a large gear on the left side and I spun that gear which freed the cartridge. I thought I was onto something, but when I turned the printer back on, the cartridge went right back into the position on the right and got stuck again. I wish I had a solution to offer. I would sure like to get this figured out too. Thanks.

Don’t waste your time David. They’ve got us by the short hairs. I ended up purchasing the HP-9015 and turning off all communications between the printer and HP. If you call the company they may offer you a deal which is worth checking while you’re on the phone with them. Calling Tech Support is really like calling the Sales Dept. They know more about what to sell you than what the problem is with your printer. Planned Obsolescence, Silicon Valley style!
