Touch ID out of whack?

So I took the plunge, repaired my broken iPhone 6s screen today. Great instructions, easy to follow…on reassembling I was unable to input new adhesive which in and of itself is not an issue for me, what was interesting though was that “touch ID” is not supported says the message on my new screen. What’s going on here? Did I damage the home button cables removing it? Did I damage cables when reassembling? Anyone know?

I disassembled the home button, and I think I did something to the cable. There is a tiny dot, indentation on the initial cable from home button. I have no time to reconnect old screen to home button now, my kids!)) But will try later, thanks for the tip…

There are three areas you need to inspect with either a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe.

            1.         Where the home button connects to the logic board along with the LCD, Digitizer and Camera.

            2.         Underneath the shield plate under the Home button, the Home button connects with the Home button extension flex that runs under the LCD heat shield.

            3.         The tiny circuitry on the Home button flex itself as well as the integrity of the flex between the button and the circuitry.

The connectors at either end of a flex, as well as on the logic board, are very delicate and can be damaged very easily. Check for broken pins or debris that may impede contact. Also, the flex on the Home button tears very easily so look for tears or deep scratches. Finally, because you have to peel off the button flex, look for damage in the area where the electronics components reside.

Always disconnect the battery. It should be the first and last step whenever you open your phone.

If u still have it try the original screen with the home button and see if it works, faulty replacement screens sometimes stop the touchid from working :)

It could be that when you broke your screen you broke a part of the home button. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the home button.

As c9679 suggested, I would try and attach the home button back to the old screen if you still have it. I would look at the button first however to make sure you can’t see any rips in the cable or bent pins. Apple products seem to be very particular about how connectors are seated. Sometimes an over tightened screw or pressure in the wrong spot can cause components to fail. Always be extremely careful when you are working with the home button. I always like to use a little heat to loosen the adhesive.

If you do choose to test the button with the old screen you only need to connect the button the the old screen. There is no need to transfer the camera and ear piece speaker assembly.
