Screen Flickering After Repair?

So about a week ago, I spilled coffee on my MacBook Pro. I know there’s substantial risk that things are going to continue corroding even now—however I’m not convinced that this problem is due to the spill itself.

Several days later, I opened up the case using the iFixit instructions for replacing the top case assembly, and went far enough to take off the logic board. I cleaned every obviously coffee-damaged surface with isopropyl alcohol, but I did not touch the display contacts, as the instructions said not to.

Upon putting the computer back together, first the display did not work at all (it had worked after the spill, once dry, prior to taking it apart, so this was a new issue). I fiddled with the display connector several times, and eventaully got the screen to come on. However, the screen now flickers when the computer moves—such as when I hit a key or bump it.

Do I need a new display connector? Can I immerse the connector contacts in isopropyl to clean them?

Please convince yourself that if coffee did go all the way through keyboard and backlight sheet down to the logic board the spill was serious enough from your Mac’s point of view ;) Waiting for days before disassembling and cleaning but especially without unplugging the battery, even if you didn’t use, was potentially quite destructive as a small amount of power flows in the board all the time, waiting for you to press the power button. That said, you can safely immerse your cable in demineralized water and right after in IPA to dispose of possible residues of coffee..I’d suggest doing the same with the connector on the board with a tweezer and a small cloth after unplugging the battery. Nobody can tell if there’s a problem with the cable or with the board without testing unfortunately.
