Why doesnt my computer recognise my phone?

Hi this a continuation of a problem i was having with my iphone and an error 1611, now the phone is not recognised by the computer. This started after i downloaded iliberty, which also did not recognise the phone.

I am suspecting a virus of some sort because interestingly i cannot expand the solutions on the apple page while the phone is connected to my computer .. i take it off and a few seconds later its all good !

Any help at this point would be appreciated i am close to throwing it in the bin

"i take it off and a few seconds later its all good !" ????

I have no idea what you are talking about, but connect your iPhone to iTunes with a working USB cable. Put your iPhone in DFU Mode and Restore Firmware. If you don't know how to get DFU Mode, here are the steps. With iPhone connected to computer with iTunes open, hold both Home and Power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release power button, but keep holding home button for another 20-30 seconds until iTune recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode (message box), the screen needs to be black with no image. Then restore your Firmware.

Hi Guys,

I left a question that recieved some attention in this forum some time ago regarding a 1611 error. To resolve that problem i tried replacing the battery and i also replaced the dock connector. Neither of these things helped with the 1611 error. Then after trying iliberty software my computer would not recognise to my phone at all. This is true on another computer too.

What i have also found is when i am on the apple support website is that the expandible points on the page will not open , unless i take my phone off the computer and then magically the website works as it should......so im thinking their is some software issue in the phone , but i just cant get it going .

Making matters worse the phone came through a friend of a friend and i have no idea what it went through before it made it to my inquisitive hands. Except their is no sign of water damage.

It appears that you might have a firmware issue :-) Like Brad suggested; have you tried to put your phone in DFU Mode? You could also download iBrickr http://www.softsea.com/review/iBrickr.ht... , in my case for Windows. Got these from a forum somewhere and worked for one of my phones. Thank whomever wrote these steps ;-)

- Download iBrickr and extract it somewhere.

- Open a command line and cd to the folder you extracted iBrickr to.

- Run iphoneinterface from the command line.

- You should see an r_recovery prompt.

- Type "setenv auto-boot true" and hit enter.

- Type "saveenv" and hit enter.

- Type "fsboot" and hit enter.

- Your phone should boot properly.

Just make sure that it works for your Firmware. It does not work for the newer ones. In that case download ZIPhone

Oh and BTW also check this forum good Luck

Also take a look at the dock connector. Does it look damaged at all? If so then this will probably be the issue. It will be a very easy fix ;)

Problems continue.....I just cant get any computer to register that it has the iphone pluged in. The iphone turns on in restore mode, with connect to itunes message and also will change to dfu mode, but itunes or any other program i have downloaded will not acknowledge the iphone. The iphone knows it is connected to a computer, but not the reverse
