I believe you were miss informed but you don't half to drain your a/c fluid. You have what is called a shrader valve. The pressure switch screws onto the sharder valve . If your issue is in that valve then yes you will lose pressure. So no the pressure does not half to evacuated when changing the pressure swith cause the sharder valve will keep the system contained

I also believe the pressure switch will unscrew, if it has a hex on it to use a wrench then it should unscrew, there should also be a green o ring to help seal it up, I recommend to change the o ring, maybe it comes with the pressure switch, if the Schrader valve is leaking, give it a light twist in the tightening direction, the same as a tire valve tool will work but not too tight, easy to break or damage its internal seal.

How did you come to the conclusion that your pressure switch is bad please?

If the parts store has a new hose with pressure switch installed, and you dont notice the hex fitting for a wrench, then it would appear you need to do a full service job.

Confirmed. Schrader valve under pressure switch, along with green o ring on 2012 f 150 FX4 3.5L EcoBoost. You can unscrew without draining the system.

Also if Schrader valve stem is leaking you can buy a special tool (they aren't big or expensive. Actually pretty cheap. Like $20-30) that you screw onto the valve, unscrew the stem, pull back, close the valve, remove bad stem and put new on, then install new in reverse of above. It is very easy

No I don’t think so. You will have to discharge the A/C system and replace it then recharge the system. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this yourself, then find someone else who can.

it does not have t be drained , the majority of the f150's have a valve underneath, when you unscrew it , it will reseal if the valve is working

Just changed one on a 2014 f150 5.0. 4x4 and no I didn’t have to drain my AC system. Schrader Valve keeps fluid from escaping. I’m still watching people run for the nearest Tornado Shelter as I drive by though. Didn’t fix my loud high speed fan problem. Smh

so what did you fid the problem to be, was it a freon deficiency

Did you find out what is causing your high speed fan issue? Mine is doing the same thing and with a lot or research it sounds like the AC Expansion Valve needs to be replaced.

- de

David Howard did you ever find out was it indeed the AC Expansion Valve?

- de

Most often causes of fan speeds on extreme high without reason...

1) High pressure switch failure

2) A clog in the high side after the high pressure switch, but before the expansion valve.

3) Overcharged system, where the high side was over 350

Mine was overcharged, yet I've never done anything nor paid anyone to do anything to my AC.

Maybe a mechanic looking to make some extra money overchanrged it duruing an inspection?

My Ford F-150 2014 king ranch truck takes a long time to cool the interior. What can the problem be. It has around 40 , it’s on the green level .
