Solución Elegida

This laptop model does not have a CMOS battery. On the motherboard you will see a spot that one should be located. If you disconnect or let your main battery run dead you will have to re-enter your date and time settings when booting your laptop for the first time.

@itsd_btech What is the solution to this problem then? My battery doesn't charge and my laptop only runs while plugged in, and needs bios time update each time I plug into a new socket.

I would recommend replacing the battery with an OEM quality battery. Either your battery is not recognized by the laptop or is failing and needs replaced.

buy a good replacement battery (about $20 USD, put in new battery and charge fully in the off position. Re-enter current date n time in BIOS and all should be well

Be sure to train the new battery! When they first charge they may only last 30 min to 1 hr. But after draining to about 10% or so and fully charging to 100% you will get way longer life. I train new batteries three times for best results, although the most benefit occurs after the first full cycle.

Hi Alx,

I would guess that it may be under this cover.

This model does not have a CMOS battery on the motherboard. The spot you are showing in the picture looks like a potential placement. If you take the motherboard out you will see underneath there is no battery.

I'm having the same issue. I let my battery die by watching a movie that I fell asleep to. Now all I get is the Toshiba splash screen. No bios, nothing. There is no battery. I looked.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

This model do not have any CMOS battery, …ignore the shape of battery on the mobo, there is no battery on the underside. First time I ever encountered this in my 17 years dealing with computers. It's very unusual but it's true

I have a Toshiba Satellite L55-B5267. I am also unable to locate a battery on the board. I am getting prompted for a BIOS password. How do I clear the password. No battery so I am unable to locate the correct jumper location on the board.

I had the same problem. Just replace the battery, fully charge the new battery, set your date n time and you are all good to go.
