Can an A1172 charger be used as Magsafe 2 if wired with the MS2 lead?
I have a model A1172 85w apple power adaptor from an older (pre 2010) MacBook Pro, and I’m wondering if it will work with my current MacBook Pro 13.3” (Retina display) if I wire it up with a replacement Magsafe 2 power lead I have?
Here are the specs of the charger: [producto vinculado inexistente o deshabilitado: IF113-045-1]
The correct charger for my mac would be the MagSafe 2 60w - but it appears mine has completely failed now.
Read elsewhere on here that the 85w chargers will also work for 60w in this way, though maybe this one is too old/ incompatible?
thanks greatly for any help

Thanks Mayer. That’s the simplest fix if they’re compatible indeed. I may have to wire this one in though, as the cable looks iffy.
Main concern now is that I may if damaged the charging chip (dc in board) in the MacBook due to connecting the other charger to it wired up with the wrong polarity. Is there anyway to tell if this has actually occured?
I’ll also try doing a pmu reset on the mac after fixing
the charger as forgot about this…
Es esta una buena pregunta?
