iPhone 7 Plus doesn’t charge

Hello

I currently have a iPhone 7 Plus, Which has been working fine up until today, I turned the phone off as usual before I went to bed, Woke up, Went to plug it in for a charge, And nothing happened. I immediately thought it must have been the cable (Genuine Apple cable that came with the phone) So I went to Apple to purchase another plug and cable but unfortunately the same issue still persists.

I’ve had the phone for a year and half so no Apple care or warranty unfortunately.

I’ve tried the usual, Clean out lightning socket, Hard reset, Erase, etc etc even tried DFU mode in the hope iTunes might recognise it, But still nothing, Has anybody got any suggestions? I personally don’t think it’s the battery, What about a charge port replacement?

When the phone is off and I plug it into a charger it will power on but just won’t charge.

Im pretty much scratching my head on this one.

I have an iphone 7 plus too but when its screen was cracked it died and doesnt turn on now. I might be using a cable that is dead or too weak.

You say you had a genuine Apple cable, was the same true for the charging brick? Do you use any “cheap” car chargers ? Dollar store chargers can damage the charge circuit inside the phone.

If you have used nothing but original chargers and cables, it is still possible the charge circuit failed. However, before that you must eliminate modular failures (battery/Lightning Port). You can do this yourself or bring it into a shop so that they can very those components for you.

Yep the charging brick was the one that came with the phone, Nope never had a need for a car charger the phone can usually last me all day till I home from work so only gets charged at home.

It’s very possible it could be the battery. But there is a chance it could be the charging port also. If you’ve had problems charging the phone before (It will charge to 100%, instantly drop down to 40% after being off the charger for around 5 minutes, and then die) it’s possible it could be the battery. If when you plug in your phone and it will not show that it’s charging at all, then it’s possible it could be the charger, or the charging port. I would recommend trying a new charger before getting a charge port replacement.

If you would like to replace the battery yourself here is a step-by-step tutorial, along with a new battery :

If you bring it into a tech shop that can fix it for you, they should be able to “Open test” a new battery and/or a new charging port. Which means they can open the phone and test to see if either you need a new battery, or a new charging port.
