Moto G4 Play - Screen stays turned off after phone call

Hello,

I have a Motorola Moto G4 play with a weird problem. After a phone call the screen stays off, so I have to manually turn it on again.

I noticed that the top-right side of the screen (glass) is looking out of the frame, meaning that the proximity sensor isn’t detecting that I moved the phone. If I push the screen back to the frame it works great. The issues is that I can’t get it to stay that way as it will still pop out of the frame.

Is there anything I can do without replacing the whole screen?

You would need to separate the screen to remove the old adhesive and put new adhesive on as it is not adhering on the top right of the phone.

The problem is that you’ll need to do it carefully to avoid damaging the screen assembly.

Here is a tear down of the device in a YouTube video for a screen replacement. Skip to 4:48 for reference on where the adhesive would be located.

Around those gap spots is where you use something thin and flexible but not sharp to separate the adhesive with something like an iFixit Opening Pick, avoid prying the screen up during adhesive separation (unless you can tell most if not all of the adhesive has been separated) as it’ll risk cracking the glass or LCD.

If you do not have the tools the cost of replacing the LCD which is pre-assembled with a frame making it easy for replacement amounts close to the same cost of the tools:
