Why is my transmission not engaging

Car was running fine suddenly got no power and car refuses to move forward or backward

Update (01/06/2019)

It is a 2011 Kia Forte ex 2.0 was running perfectly yesterday morning started acting up in the afternoon engine is running perfectly put the car in gear but will not move

@fraffle1 what exact year and model is your Kia? what engine and what type of transmission (I assume it's a AT)? What do you mean by "suddenly got no power"? Engine wise or not moving? Does your shifter feel like it is engaging? What happens when you put it in gear?
